Default a baby adopted from China

I know this is a long shot but has anyone emigrated to Australia with a baby adopted from China. We have our resident's visas already which we will validate on holiday next year. We have started the process of adopting a baby from China and would like to know if anyone has gone this route?

1. Adoption of a child before you validate is a notifiable change of circumstances. So make sure you validate first.

2. You would need to sponsor the child for an adoption visa before leaving for Australia. Download and read the Child migration booklet on the DIMIA website. And visit http://www.australia.org.uk (assuming you're in the UK).

3. Make sure the child's British citizenship is granted and documented before you leave the UK.

Adoption visas can be complex - especially if you come across a case officer who doesn't fully understand the rules. You should consider getting professional assistance. You could try Ian Harrop - http://www.ianharrop.co.uk
