Avon Descent this weekend (WA)
It looks like the Avon Descent is promising to be quite a spectacle this year thanks to all the rain.
Does anyone know what the best spots are to watch it all - preferably a spot that's good to see both the kayaks and powerboats on a patch of rough water? It apparently gets quite busy so the plan is to head out early Sunday morning.

A water sports race down the river from Northam to Perth. There are kayaks etc plus small powerboats. When there has been plenty of rain neogiating the rapids is challenging. A couple of years ago it was so dry they had to run it on foot!

I think a good vantage is Walyunga National Park. You park outside the park and regular buses (every 10 mins or so) bus you to the river - there are rapids, and a picnic area, tea and sausage sizzle, and it's not as busy as Bells.
The paddlers will be coming through pretty quick, maybe from 9.30 - 10.00 on sunday, or maybe earlier. Enjoy!
