Default Availability of Organic produce in Perth

Something else I managed not to clock when I was there (what on earth was I doing)

Just wondering how much organic food is available, what's the quality and is it expensive?? Or to the Aussies not use as much presticide per se?

Many thanks

Mrs. J

9 days to go...........................

I'm pretty sure they are lax on pesticide use as there are plenty of bugs and beasties in Australia. The rest of the food industry is not as well regulated as the UK/ Europe as well. The methods used for organic farming here are pretty labour intensive.
You can get some basic organic veggies at Coles - but I would advise going to a specialist shop for more exotic ones. You can also buy flour, pasta, nuts and stuff like that. Our mate runs an organic veggie shop in the northern burbs and I will try and post the address soon; we haven't shopped there as hubby has been getting veggies free when he helps out at his organic gardens. The courgettes and potatoes are particularly yummy.

Hi

I used a company called Freshline Organic and they deliver to your home or work every week if you wish - they don't have a shop but can fax or call through that week's prices etc. They do a family box for around $50 which was expensive compared to ordinary stuff but OK for organic!
