Australia's population to grow to 42 million by 2050
Treasury modelling contained in the third Intergenerational Report forecast a population of 35.9 million by 2050 but assumed returning to a net migration rate of 180,000 a year.
Professor Birrell's modelling based on Treasury figures showed a continued rate of 298,000 would produce a population of 42.3 million based on greater life expectancies and lower birth rate of 1.9, as well as immigration.

Looks like we'll all be doubling up.
Seriously though, if the population is going to grow at such a rate, what happens when they eventually want to stop? Do they stop or does it just keep going up? Surely if they suddenly shut the door (if they could), the economy would collapse? Where will all the water / electricity come from? What about reducing emission? Does the government really have a plan?

Technology, without it we'd already be over the carrying capacity.

I have to admit, the biggest disappointment in coming to Australia for me was the lack of Australians.

"While immigration needs to be managed with better infrastructure, we also need high immigration for sound economic reasons - if we don't, we'll all end up paying higher taxes."

No one will be able to afford a house in any of the large cities apart from multi millionears. House prices are already unaffordable for young people. The cities will be overcrowded, conjested and polluted and ethnic tensions and violence between different races and religions. The only ones that benefit are property investors and large business owners who have more people buying their products and more people means more labour which keeps wages lower.

"Experts predict Australia's population will be higher in the future than it is today."
Wow. Didn't see that coming. Higher, you say? Not lower? Good gracious!
