Australia's most underrated city..?

Re: Australia's most underrated city..?
These two paragraphs from your linked article resonate with me:
"Hellhole" could still be an apt description of some parts of Newcastle. In the CBD there are areas that are boarded up, falling apart and decaying and at the harbour heavy machinery blocks your camera's viewfinder, which is understandable as this is a working port.
But despite some parts of Newie being downright depressing, there are plenty of beautiful, inspiring and unique places and sites. And there's obviously a healthy dose of creative types in town, judging by the quirky boutiques, art galleries, terrific restaurants and harbourside bars."
Some parts seemed really neglected (hellhole seems over the top) while other parts seemed great. The great parts made you wonder why the run down parts existed. Hopefully one day it will reach its full potential again
