Default Australians call it CV or a Resume?

Hi there,

Just got a very simple question. When applying for a job or for immigrations purposes, the word CV or Resume is more common in Australia?

I think in UK they call it CV what do you think about Australia?

Please advise!

Thanks!

We call it both, but the contents are actually that of a CV rather than a resume!

The standard practice in Oz is for the document to be long - effectively an educational & working life story - rather than a 2 page summary (ie resume).

it seems even in australia things can be done differently, just as they can be called by different names. i have never had a cv/resume more than 2 pages long. i even modeled one off an ameican site and included a photo of myself on it. i got positive feedback from that and i got the job! they said it showed creativity and were impressed!

however in the end what does it matter. if they are interested in you they will ask you for more info, generaly. and also dont' want to give them some long boring resume they will just flip through.

short sweet, with clarity is what i have always looked for too when hiring people. those long ones i generaly would just flip over.

put your best forward and you will be fine.

Keep your CV short and sweet - 2 pages is enough. I review CVs all the time unfortunately and long CVs are a real turn off.

I actually think CVs are a waste of time - but that's another story.
