Australian websites and weblogs
Some links for y'all (totally random, and I just felt like sharing...)
http://www.crikey.com.au/
Sounds interesting.... You can subscribe for a 2 week trial for free! (after that it's 40 cents a day. But lots of the articles are also on their website)
And:
http://www.buggerall.com.au/tags/
Australian Blogs.
Sorted by tags.
For example, if you want to read blogs that are about Perth, or the author lives in Perth, go to the tag on the righhand side, for "perth" (quite a way down...)
Or for example 'life'
http://www.buggerall.com.au/tags/tag/life
Another good one for looking up websites is del.icio.us, a social bookmarking site. You can bookmark your own sites (and thus access them from everywhere), tag them (categorise them so to speak), but also look up what's popular out there. (you can see how many other people have saved that link, very funny)
http://del.icio.us/search/?all=australia
Oh, and an alternative to Whereis.com: ZoomIn - On-Line Street Maps for Australia
http://zoomin.com.au/?page/home
http://www.crikey.com.au/
What's so different about Crikey?
It's a daily email that lobs into subscribers' inboxes every weekday at lunchtime, chock full of stories about politics, business, media, sport, society, gossip and the real Australia.
It's independent, opinionated and always looking under rocks, definitely not part of the media establishment. It takes its subscribers into the places where decisions are made behind closed doors.
It's a two-way conversation which depends on its readers for tips, comments, scoops, rumours, opinions and good old-fashioned whistle-blowing.
