The main difference is that living in the uk you get your student loan to pay your fees etc (and you pay back later when you are earning) whereas in oz as a visa holder you do not qualify for the equivalent loan so you have to pay 'up front'.

Yes, as a pr visa holder you would have to pay all fees up front. Only as a citizen can you defer your fees and pay them later out of your salary.
However in cases of genuine hardship most universities can offer bursaries and scholarships.

NO, I am italian, i come from another university system.
you do not have to pay so much. just 1000 euros per year.
I was just thinking what i wrote, nothing else, I wanted to know how the government protect itself from fraud. that's all!
none double sense!

If you are an international student, you pay as you go.

Re: Australian University
If you have PR then you can study at a university in Australia the same as a citizen. If you get into a HECS course then, as mentioned previously, you defer paying off your fees until after you graduate and start earning a certain amount of money (in Australia). Some courses are full fee paying so if you took one of those you would, of course, have to pay full fees which can cost up to $100K or more for a course like Medicine.

Looks like they have changed it then. PR's used to get treated the same as citizens.
