australian sponsored still waiting... and IEAust question

I applied for the Australian Sponsored-Skilled category on December 13 2001, and my card was charged several days later. I did not receive any Acknowledgement letter that would contain my file number for several months, until I decided to give Adelaide a phone call. The officer on the phone was nice enough to check on my case, and verified that my file was indeed in the computer, and she even gave me my file number, and said that I would receive the written letter very soon (that was about 1.5 months ago when the phone call was placed). I have yet to receive any written documentation from them. Any one else in a similar situation?

How different is the Skilled-Sponsored category different from the Skilled-Independent? As far as I know, it just provides the extra 15 points for the applicant, but from what I have read here in this forum, it seems to me that the former category takes a much much longer time to process.

Also, an Electrical Engineering degree from the US is quite broad, and it may or may not be a specialization in Electronics, someone please clarify the difference between the Electrical Engineer/Electronics Engineer as defined by the IEAust.

Thanks.
