Fiji - 5 times - stayed at a different resort each time. Last time was last September and stayed on Denarau Island (the Hilton) Booked flights with Qantas (Air Pacific) as cheapest. Booked accommodation through wotif. 1 bed villa with breakfast and flights about $1,200 each - bargain.

Flights with Virgin Blue quite often go through Bisbane or Sydney - there is a direct but often full - makes the journey that much longer.

Everytime we have been to Fiji it has only been for a max of 8 days as that is enough for us.

Thailand - Phuket 15 nights at the Katathani resort - We flew BC so flight price may be irrelevant? Accommodation with breakfast and transfers about $4000 for two or thereabouts.

New Zealand - 1st time travelled from Auckland to Christchurch in a hire car. Flight may be irrelevant. Accommodation we booked as we turned up but didn't pay a huge amount.

2nd time stayed in Auckland with some girlfriends for 4 nights - Stayed at the Stamford Plaza and paid about $200 for room - probably booked through wotif but may have been someone else.

Going to Bali sometime later this year/early next with the girls. friend of a friend owns some villas there so going to book one of these as lots included. We will probably fly jetstar but will see what is on offer.

Also been to a few places in Malaysia and if you want details then let me know - very rarely book packages and generally shop around

Crikey, that's a bargain. At those prices I might even manage to get over there with Mrs Stampede and Numpty Bub this year.

Flights were booked in a Jetstar sale...2 for 1...they seem to do it quite often though.

Campervan hire in Jan / Feb was about 3 times more expensive than November...we got lucky with decent weather that time of year.

There are some great flight deals on at the moment. Air Asia X have a $99 fare to KL to promote their 2nd daily flight there. I checked and can get the 3 of us to KL and back for under $600 in September. If we did not have so many other trips planned this year I'd book them.

These bear out my quick search.

The airfares are the expensive bit, but I don't consider them that bad.

You can get to Californina for just over 1000 bucks. Based on earning levels, I don't see that as being astronomical.

Just came back from 2 weeks in Vanuatu. We flew with Air Vanuatu, if you want to know who we booked with and how much we paid you will have to get Mrs Badge to ask Mrs Buzzy as I have no idea!!!

Did you stay in that big fancy resort, or where the monkeys, bats and komodo dragons attacked you?
