Petrol 98.9 at Woolies, plus a 4 cent discount. It is now cheaper than when we arrived in Aus 6.5 years ago.

Actually it has, by a cent or so, at times when petrol has been at the top of its cycle. Though on average diesel is always more expensive than petrol and doesn't have a periodic cycle.
From the Green Vehicle government website, my diesel Grand Cherokee has a combined fuel consumption of 7.5L/100km and the petrol equivalent uses 10.4L/100km. So if petrol is $1/L I should make a saving in fuel cost over petrol as long as diesel costs less than $1.38.7 - which it certainly does at present.

Advance warning (possibly) - after a long period of going down just like in Australia, petrol in New Zealand just went up 7c/litre.
We may be at the bottom of the cycle....

The terminal gate price is up 5c from it's low point, the exchange rate is testing £1:$2 and Brisbane prices have ticked up very slightly yesterday. IMHO the petrol companies are itching to get back to the cycle, lest people ask nasty questions about why that con was allowed in the first place.

Filled up both cars today at 98.9c. Most other servo's here (Carindale) are $1.19 so I reckon it's now or never for less expensive petrol.

Went up in certain servos by 23 cents a litre here in Melbourne today.

Terminal Gate price seems to be spiking somewhat, now up 8c on its low point and still going up it seems. Maybe hangover from the exchange rate changes.
