Re: Australian habits you have picked up!!!
I remembered some more:
Greeezy not greasy
Shnitzel is pronounced snitsil (must have taken the 'h' and put it into ashume)
"Go for your life", as in
Me: may I borrow your scissors?
Aussie: Go for your life!

The one thing i'm looking forward to, is wearing my thongs and shorts on a daily basis. I'd gladly pick up the Aussie way of speaking too. Just get me there!

I prefer to put Capsicum on my pizza rather than Pepper.

Probably been mentioned in here somewhere but you'll know you are picking up Aussie habits when you develop an upwards inflection at the end of each sentence.
Question: Why do Australians go up at the end of their sentences?
Answer: Because their ancestors went down (under) at the beginning of theirs.

Re: Australian habits you have picked up!!!
This thread made me laugh (Brisbane girl living in UK for last 10 years - brings back lots of memories!). Will have to get the hubby to start practicing!
So here are a few I remember:
pepper = capsicum
courgette = zucchini
trousers = pants (can be quite embarrassing! ie has anyone seen my pants??)
pick up/get lucky = win on
crisps = chips (hot/cold/whatever - why complicate matters!)
Oh, and don't the chips from KFC rule!!! I understand the comment made before about chicken salt!!
Sorry, getting a bit carried away!

My poor hubby back in the UK is a Retail Manager and keeps trying to sell "Doona" sets to bemused Teessiders!
Also being able to go for a "root" around the shops without the males in the office asking if they can come for a look.
"Buckley's Chance" - the Poms have no idea, along with "Home and Hosed".
Yes, the pants bit please don't come back to the UK, set up an ironing business and tell your clients you can iron "pants".
I still say "Fair Dinkim" because my last Aussie office job they said it all the time. Also "No worries", "Pull your head in" & "Reckon".
I still go to Tesco's to buy stubbies of beer.
It never leaves you even if you leave Oz! :scared: :scared:
