Re: Australian Computer Society
That really sums it up and it's good to hear from someone who's worked for he ACS! I didn't think it was worth the effort and since I've got here that theory has been borne out by the fact that none of the job ads nor any of the numerous agencies I've spoken with have even mentioned it once!

I used to feel bad having to tell prospective members it would help them get a job when I knew it wouldn't.

Re: Australian Computer Society
I successfully got an ACS Group B assessment on the basis of my MCSE (Windows 2000) and 6 years experience. My other qualifications may have helped the process, but it was the MCSE that got me in!

Better to ask immigration questions on the immigration forum. |

Re: Australian Computer Society
The correct level of membership of the ACS that gets you an assessment as Group A (which needs 4 years of experience) is member level (MACS). You also need to be a full paying member of the ACS as a MACS for one year before you can use that membership towards a migration skills assessment.

Any input would be helpful. BTW I am an 9 year experienced Network Engineer hoping that my experience will get me in... |

But I think it sucks that ACS will acknowledge MCSE as GROUP B Diploma/Degree minor and not other IT qual's (ok there is a v.short SECRET/UNADVERTISED list). The only reason I see MCSE counting is Microsoft power & influence ! As said some MCSE's are v.good, but they are 2 a penny in UK Sour grapes ? maybe, but having just filled out the epic RPL and already holding several Cisco quals CCNP/CCDP/CQS it seems v. one-sided. Just hope mine was worth it ! |
