Australian Banks
Hello EveryOne,
Quick question:
Are there any Australian Banks having branches in USA?
Or
Are there any American Banks having branches in Australia?
If yes, would you be kind enough to give me more details about them?
Thanks

Re: Australian Banks
Bank of America have an office in Sydney but I believe they only offer commercial (not consumer) services. They don't have a branch network.
I don't know of any other American banks in Australia.

At a guess I'd say HSBC probably do banking in America too...
Best to steer well clear of the 'Australian' banks anywhere they're all con merchants who try and charge you money every time you even start *thinking* about money!

No disrespect intended but I just don't understand peoples obsession with a branch network. We have used direct banking since 1991 with First Direct (in the UK) and never had any problems. With the Internet direct banking has got even better.
Remember, you pay for the branch network indirectly through poor performing products and high fees on services.

I agree with this. A lot of people on here appear to place a great deal of importance on branch networks. Maybe they go in for a cup of tea each week?
I have banked here with both HSBC and Citibank, and have only been to the actual bank once, only to be told that I could have arranged it online. To be honest, I try to go to the bank as little as possible, and most over the counter transactions are available at Australia Post.
