Default Australian ATM machine terms?

Hi,

We've been in Brisbane for about a week now.

One thing its puzzling me is the terms used, when using an ATM,

Credit
Debit
Savings?

What does each one mean, what if you choose savings option if you have a debit card? etc?

Regards.

Alistair.

Savings is frequently the equivalent of what we call a current account in the UK. Credit is your credt card account.

If you are accessing a UK account though, regardless of whether it your current account or your credit card, you need to select credit. There may be a very few which are different, but in 95% of cases if using a UK cashpoint card on a UK current account, you need to select "credit"

My Lloyds and Nationwide cards both work with cheque selected.

To the OP here you can have multiple accounts linked to a single card hence the need to select which account
