Default australia Trade certificate

we have got TRA in fist class metal machining, Visa applied for, now on the big wait. In the TRA acceptance it stated about the Australia Trade certificate. It seems like yet more money and time to get it, but cannot apply until visa through. It says detailed description of job history again, photos, certified copied of everything again. Is the TRA not worth anything? And will we need the ARTC before my husband can work in australia?? Help pleased confused

I looked into this as well for my OH (welder). I contacted them regarding the ARTC and was told it wouldn't be issued until you are in Oz but also we have friends over there now who is in the same industry and he hasn't got this. To be honest I don't actually know. All I know is that we aren't going to bother until its requested.

Not much help but a little bit of info.

Electrician's and Plumbers need an ARTC certificate when they get here to be able to get a licence, maybe other professions as well.

The ARTC is yet another government rip off. You have to send all of the paperwork that you originally sent to the TRA, to, wait for it...........

THE TRA.

only this time its $300.

I've been here 12 months now, and not been asked for it yet.

Neil.

It's actually free now if you have already had a pre-migration assessment done. Only takes 20 days as well, so it's not too bad.
