Done - I'm out. But I'm still intrigued to know why a fair proportion of those unhappy with their time currently or previously in Australia, resided in Brisbane?

From 2005(ish) to about 2009(ish) all the 'unhappy with their time currently or previously in Australia' resided in Perth (or appeared to). You have to ask 'them' why because the rest of us who either don't live there or who love living there don't know the answer.

This will NOT be tolerated. The forum is sick of this kind of bickering. Pack it in now, the Mods will not ask again.

I've been to Brisbane several times, and I must admit it never struck me as the sort of place that I wanted to live. I recall on one occaion arriving from a flight about 8pm on a Wednesday or Thursday evening, and pretty much all the restaurants had already stopped serving. I ended up having crisps from a 7-11 style place.
It seemed dull and parochial. The CBD seemed quiet and flat.
In no rush to ever go back...

9:30pm is usually the cut off in Sydney - some lower scale places serve later, but if you want a reasonable quality meal you need to get seated and ordered before 9.30.

I like eating out, and I often either work late, or do something else up until I do. I used to take late eating for granted, but not any more, unless I just want a pizza.
Sydney's pretty pathetic TBH - it carps on about being a big, metropolitan world city, but is actually a very long way from it.

The CBD is dead at night, but a short stroll across the bridge to Southbank or head into The Valley and you'll get something to eat after 8pm. Brisbane is like a big old country town, but it's chilled, the weather's good, and it's a very short plane ride to Sydney or Melbourne. It suits me.
But having been here in Melbourne and lived through one of it's hottest days,
( which is nothing compared to Brisbane) I have to say I probably, realistically couldn't cope with the heat there. But a I think it's a beautiful city.
