Rubbish! Where are these power outages? Privatised electricity in Australia is woeful in comparison as is the road network.
Just because the USA lags in public transport doesn't mean their infrastructure isn't the best in the world. The USA's road, air and rail networks are cheaper to use and more comprehensive than anywhere else I can think of. This is why most companies enjoy great and reliable supply chains and can do JIT inventory control much better than anywhere else.

Where have you lived in the USA?
If the wind gets above 25 mph here the power lines come down like a house of cards. I speak from experience of living and working in New Jersey and New York State and most people in the USA forum will back me up on this. I've experienced significantly more power cuts (both at work and at home) in seven years in the USA than I did in 30 years in the UK. The state of the roads is often woeful here - many arterial highways are falling apart and the roads in major cities - even high profile tourist destinations such as New York and Washington DC - bring to mind Kampala, Uganda (where I also lived for some time). It is simply indisputable that for the self-proclaimed "richest nation on earth" much of the infrastructure here is a disgrace. When was the last time a motorway bridge in western europe collapsed without warning causing multiple fatalities?

In no specific order though! I can bet 'population density' would be a big plus for Australia. Not sure either how Australia can rank higher for Infrastructure over the UK.

Also regarding 'Cost of Living':
"We also consider each country’s income tax rates and national debt."
"we favored our own experience over published government statistics"

Trouble is many Australians actually believe this stuff,
Australia is a bit of a bubble, they are isolated in many ways , they look at thier country not just through rose coloured glasses but as if they are on LSD.
Australia is overrated , this doen't mean it's a third world country , however it can be a disapointment to many.

Very well, look at all the Aussie actors, heath Ledger, mel Gibson, Russell Crowe, Hugh Jackman and Aussie films and soaps and aussie bands and musicians over the years.. For a small country of 20m OZ has plenty of culture, Look at the latest Robin Hood film starring two Aussie Actors Russell Crowe and cate Blanchett. It seems every second hollywood film has an Aussie actor in it these days.
Also Aboriginal culture is the oldest culture in the world. The sydney Opera house the most famous Opera house in the world.
For a small country of 20m OZ has plenty of culture, Look at the latest Robin Hood film starring two Aussie Actors Russell Crowe and cate Blanchett. And most Aussie soaps are rubbish basically.
