Australia RPL for the ACS
Can anyone help me here please. I am about to do the RPL for the Australian computer Society and there seems to be an awful lot of stuff they require without the level ofdetail I would like to see to determine what information and how much I should enter.
Can anyone who has done this give me some pointers or an example of what they did!!!!
Any information would very much be appreciated!
Also how long did it take to get a response from them?
Thank you.

I found it daunting when I did mine...yep and they give little guidance on level of detail required.
However I did read the notes thoroughly (most unusual for me) and that helped.
My examples did not fit into their boxes...I can't remember as it was early 2003 when I did mine, but it was along the lines of picking each title of the area they wanted to accept RPL and entering relevant experience.
EG: project manangement : I was responsible for co-ordinating blah aspects of the blah implementation of blah blah with particular responsibilty for xyz.
And pad this out with detail on what it entailed.
I sectioned each part of the 10 sections required for RPL and wrote about 5-8 lines per section. It took up most of the form and took days to prepare meticulously, as I was determined to get RPL for my skills.
Good luck

Hey
Thanks for your comment and wishing me luck...gonna need it. I have been putting this off for 6 months now!
How many pages did you actually submit? How many pages per section (just asking as i have 16+ years in IT and did not want to tell them my life story....)
Also how many weeks to prepare?

Hmmm- can't think how much but it felt like my life story.
Basically the RPL is trying to evaluate if your skills/experience are the equivalent of a degree. So bear this in mind and it helps you know where to pitch your level and cuts out the ' I filed for 6 months'.
Give enough detail without being too wordy, but make sure you use their words. If they say project management, make sure your experience says ' I gained p m experience through..."
The most interesting bit was the fluffy bit (communications/interpersonal development stuff) as this too is mandatory.
I'll have a look at home tonight and see if I still have my application and send you a bit as an example. Alternatively you can send me a section and I'll look at it for you. I'll pm you with my email address.
