In Australia I think MacDonalds should be a NO NO
Taking into account Macdonald's recent decision to stop using Australia beef in their outlets and source it cheaper from abroad - as if the farmers here have not got enough problems, (and they did a lot of expanding to meet Macdonald's needs), I am giving them a BIG MISS for ever. And so is their current one and only supplier of gerkins as he is so disgusted. I gather he is closing down his business.
We need australia to stay a big player and I think MacDonalds (and everyone else) should always source their supplies from the country in which they are selling them.
From now on I will use HUNGRY JACKS AND SUBWAY - Hit them where it hurts and perhaps they will change their ways.

My other halfs parents aren't farmers but are very involved with agriculture and this whole thing is a complete disaster for farmers here - especially in Tazzie. If I ate in McDonalds I'd boycott them!
I'm hoping the pickle guy gets more vocal as he's pretty eloquent. Everyone knows McDonals are unethical but I can belive even they would be able to use the fact that they support Aussie farmers in a major advertising campaign one month then abandon said suppliers the next. They even used these people in their ads! Grrrrr

My hubby will be disappointed, he really like Macciedees. I agree with your sentiment, sourcing cheaper meat from countries with possible lower animal welfare standards sucks, esp as it will effect Aussie farmers badly. I don't think I have tried Hungry Jacks. Are they nice? BTW all this talk of food is making me hungry.

I am so glad your baby was ok. I am pregnant at the moment so I think will avoid fast food places until after I have given birth, maybe even after then. But they are so handy when you are out and hungry.
