Default Australia: Good and Bad in One Day

The Bad
Shopping this morning for dried lasagne sheets. Found some on SPECIAL for $3.00. Now get this, the special was reduced by.........11 cents!! That's 4 pence folks or a 3.5% discount. I couldn't believe it! What does this suggest about either the marketing strategies of Australian supermarkets or the gullibility iof Australian consumers? Can anyone still in Britain find me a worse special offer than this?

The Good
Swimming this afternoon in Bold Park - an open air pool in Perth's Western suburbs. Youngest child free and for myself and oldest child a total of $6. 2.40GBP for unlimited swimming - fantastic!

True but to be honest that's not what I'd qualify as a true special. I often find stuff with 'reduced price' stickers on them (woolies are good for this), many times half price or less. You just need to use them quickly or else freeze till needed. Generally a sat arvo is a good time to suss out cheapie deals. Possibly the bigger 'specials' are on perishables though, like meat and yoghurt etc.

Yes.

Mrs Buzzy found a special offer in Tescos this week - 49p for something.

Reduced from 51p.

Woo-hoo.
