I don't think you'd have to be a genius to realise that those who have lost their jobs, or have an uncertain employment position will be in for a lean Xmas. I can't see QLD shops booming, unless everyone goes bonkers on their credit cards! Like many without work in Brisbane, I'm not even going to the shops now. Much of the stuff I need I can get at markets, ALDI, or online from UK.

Why do people post this stuff like it's all new and never discussed, ever?

Edit: OP if all you're going to do is post or start threads about the Aus economy, could you please rethink.

I dont think it will be a surprise to many to hear the economy is starting to struggle, you would have to have your head firmly in the sand not to see it.

There might be a slow down starting, but it has a long, long, long, long, long, long way before it gets as bad as the UK economy has been in the last few years, still predicted growth again for next year, that'll be 22 years of economic growth in a row and counting, keep it real.

This thread is about the Australian economy, not about comparing to another economy, you could also compare it favourably to the Greek economy , that would have been a better comparison surely ?

Infrastructure projects getting delayed or cancelled all over Australia

All engineering colsultancies in QLD and WA making redundancies, AECOM, Calibre, Arup, Cardno. Aurecon going to 4 day week. Consultancies feeling it now, in 18-24 months time it will be the contractors doing it tough

The EPCM market is feeling the impact of all this, and feeling it bad. Expect lots of job losses. Expect the Govt to receive tens of billions less in taxes.

said it before, Australia is years behind Western Europe in everything, even it's recession

Who knows, the long awaited and wrongly predicted for years recession might happen in Australia, but with growth predicted AGAIN next year, it doesn't look like it, we have had recession and no growth here in the UK and the UK is still bobbing along a lot have had it tough, its not nice for folk who have lost their jobs but most are doing ok, it's not the end of the world if Australia's growth slows down, who knows in the future it might, just might even go in to recession, but I doubt it.

Not that old chestnut again, so you think you can talk about the UK and Australia but others can't, remember i caught you out, both countries are intrinsically linked, thousands on BE are either going, looking at going, or are coming back, so there will always be comparison.

It's 9am in the Uk and the best you've got to do with your life is babble on in two separate threads about the same stuff

Where did you holiday by the way, I assume not the UK?
