Default Australia coastal living at risk

What do you think about this?

there has been similar talk here in the U.K - Sandbanks in Dorset (which is among the most expensive real estate in Europe) is at risk apparently.

I live on the coast - time to move inland or buy a boat maybe

It will probably take 50 years or more before the ocean rises enough to take out the houses on the coast. Its not goign to happen next week.

it's not the baseline sea level you need to worry about - more relevant are the flood and storm surge levels associated with certain probabilities of occurrence. For example, it's quite possible in some areas that even a relatively small-sounding rise in sea level (say half a foot over 50 years) is enough to significantly reduce the recurrence interval between damaging events: e.g. you might find that a flood level that used to have an annual probability of 2% (expected once every 50 years, in laymens terms) now has an annual probability of 10% (expected once every 10 years), which has serious implications for the liveability (not to mention insurability) of development in such areas.
