I was in Australia nearly 2 years ago working and living in Sydney. Amazed me how interest rates on loans were like 3-4% above the base rate where as in the UK at the time they were often the same as the base rate. Obviously down to the banking system's appetite for risk. Look what happened since. Britain should now be considered between 1st and 2nd world. Once the election is out the way the ration books will be out and a start will need to be made on saving the country from bankruptcy. Australia is far better placed for the next few decades i'd say.

Australia would be even better placed if it called the shots as far as the coal/iron ore is concerned. China = Tescos and Aus = farmer who lets tesco's dictate the price, If they don't address this situation Australia will empty in years to come, an extremely short sighted regime IMO. I don't think the UK is all that bad in comparison

All parties, still some of the police, state governments, local councils and business from the local shop to multinationals all look pretty dirty - but so long as the sun shines, who cares?
