Default Aussy food

Jumping from Canada forum to Aussie forum with a question....my husband spent some time is Australia a few years ago and I would like to be able to find somewhere that sells Aussie food to "expats".....

There is a website for Brit expats and food that they can't get hold of, but is there one for Aussie food?

Cheers

There was Koala Blue ages ago, but it went belly up. Here in the US, I've found a lot of Aussie stuff in British shops.

G'day Padsnbon,

There are loads of sites for this kind of thing! Here's a few:

http://www.greataussiefood.com.au/

http://www.whatimissmost.com/catalog/

http://australian-food.com/

And the following is not just for food. It has lots of shopping categories and links to other sites:

http://www.aussie-shopping.com/

That should keep you going for a bit!

Cheers,
PR

Costco...

You can find a lot of international foods in there including kraft vegemite. Last time I checked, Milo was in there as well as a limited selection of Tim Tams (you may have to settle for Penguins here.)

In most ways, identical to what you eat now. We prefer Chinese over Indian food though. There's been some lament on here about the dearth of curry shops in Australia. Whooptee do, I say. Feast on the myriad of Malay, Thai and Chinese restuarants and takeaway joints. Indian cuisine is overrated anyway.

Thanks for the help Quinkana, it was very helpful!!, everyone else, is there a prevalence of fast food chains like in the UK, Burger bars (chains) something fried chicken (Chain), pizza parlours or is there a choice of international cuisine, italians, french resteraunts, indians curry houses, chinese resteraunts, mexicans etc, etc.
I was also wondering if there was something specifically Auzzie like we have jellied eels (ugh!!!).

Gday

Australia is 2nd only to the USA as a lover of the type of food you list here. There are Mcdonalds, Hungry Jacks (Burger King), Chicken Treat, Pizza Hut, Steak houses everywhere. Fast food is cheaper than in Europe and just like the USA the populations obesity epidemic reflect this.
