Question Aussie taxes & car allowance

Hello everyone,

Just going to bore you all silly with a post about tax in Oz - I've been given a "car allowance" of $15k a year to cover the cost of a motor, which I apparently claim back next year. Can I also claim back my 12% depreciation from the taxman? Anyone been in this situation or can explain in layman's terms, or has any good links? Is this a decent allowance over here? I've only been here three months so I'm just learning the ropes...all fantastic so far though

Cheers

That's great thanks...I think I'll give them a call to find out what it's all about!
