1. Will Aussie banks consider mortgage applications from new permanent migrants? If not, how soon can one apply? Yes, but you will likely need to provide evidence of income and/or savings. Check with individual lenders as to what they require

2. Will my existing UK credit history be taking into consideration when deciding rates? No

3. If not, how can one quickly build up a good Aussie credit score? Using credit cards? Getting a contract mobile phone? Think using credit actually counts against you here, so the less you have the better, but I may be wrong.

4. Is there a good website where one can compare mortgage options and loan rates? Think google may be your friend. Just compare them all

5. Is there a better way than taking out a big mortgage? Rent to own? Let to buy? Else? No idea
