Default Aussie codes for mobiles

Hubby made some good friends in NSW and only has a mobile number to contact them. He wants to text them but he thinks he needs a code of some sort as he has tried to text but it won't send.
He wanted to text first as it could be quite expensive to phone a mobile from England
Any info welcome Lol x

Hi, it may depend on the network, but I think Aus mobiles start 04******.

Drop the 0. If phoning prom a landline, dial 00614******.

If its from a UK mobile, +614***. The + sign can be got by holding down the zero key but may differ with your phone.
(Dont forget to lift any premium rate or international barring through your help line first)

Hope this helps

Hi - Would suggest that you look into the purchase of a Skype phone which allows you to make phone calls through the internet at a very cheap rate to any main phone or mobile phone anywhere in the world. Used it often when last in Aussie to talk to the family back home. Regards T&A.

If you want to send a text, you need to put before the number +61 and then 'drop' the zero from the phone number. The + sign is usually on the Zero button ot the 'star' key, just hold it down and the symbol will appear.

Neil.
