Aussie christian names

Re: Aussie christian names
One of the worst one I heard was a Kiwi friend of mine's brother who called his baby 'Alabama'. It wouldn't have been quite as bad if they'd ever actually been to America!!!
Over the time I've been in Australia I've met a Hilton (Guy), a Brent, a Dale, a Dayne, a Darn (whose surname is Small - seriously!!!) none of which I'd met in the Uk. But most of my other half's mates go by the old 'surname with an o or y on the end'. Greeno, Churchy, Wardy, Thommo...

Take a look at 'The Cream of the Crop'. I particularly like the Future Presciption Names.

Yesterday I heard Darion and Dylan and the other week I heard McKinley (for a boy). On our little cul-de-sac we have a Mitchell, a Flynn, (both boys) and a Piper (a girl).

That name site is fab Ceri, thanks for the link - I have a fair interest in names, so that'll keep me busy for a while.
The Meeeegan thing annoys me too, I'm used to the Welsh Megan, and also my sister is Meg (never Meeeeg!), but I get savage looks if I say it wrong here!

I swear that is true, every time I called him Richard he said no, call me Dick.
Can't even blame the parents for that one.
