Default Arrrghhhhh

Help - my sanity depends on it

Our Xbox 360 has just died, flaming typical 2 weeks into the summer hols.

Can anyone confirm - if we wait til we get to Oz before buying a new one, will our UK games play on it?

We've got too many games to just chuck them out - but I really don't want to have to fork out for a new XBox here just so the kids can play their existing games on it, and then have to buy another XBox in Oz so new games will play there

Before you chuck it out, have you checked whether Microsoft will take care of it. Long shot but this BBC article suggest they've recognized its flaky.

Yeah I know, but we've got as much chance of finding the receipt as we have of flying to the moon :-D

Thanks for the suggestion though

Thanks guys for the advice on the broken Xbox - can anyone confirm if games bought in Oz will play on a UK bought Xbox, or games bought in UK play on an Oz bought box?

I've searched online for an answer, but I can't find anything definite

Why not try and ring one of the Microsoft helplines and ask them the question. It might cost you £325.00 per minute, but still, you might find out your answer.

PS2 games will play on either machine. If in doubt look on the back of the game cover and it will usually tell you on it which area the games are ok for. Worst case senario, get the Xbox "chipped" when you get here.

UK Xbox 360 plays Australian games and vice versa. It will play most DVDs from the other region but probably ont all ie UK is Region 2 and Australia is Region 4 and most DVDs in these regions will play on any Region 2 or 4 DVD player but some of them have tougher region locking.

This question has been answered about a million times in this forum, no need to look online just look here

Aren't XB360s cheaper in the UK?

I did a forum search, but I'm obviously inept

MrDreamy is now looking at the XBox Elite which is out here end of this month - if he knows that new games we buy in Oz will still work on it, he'll probably get one here before we leave. WeirdoGadgetFreak that he is.

Thanks for the answers guys

I know a few people who couldn't find receipts and microsoft took them back for repair. Take a couple of weeks. I couldn't wait and had the receipt so took it back to the shop where I brought it and they changed it right away. It is a well know fault.

Playstation games work from Oz so I would have thought it would be the same for the xbox (but don't hold me to that).

As someone suggested, do a search as it has been asked many times on the forum.
