Arriving 3am 1 Jan 07

Hi

I was successful in obtaining a spouse visa for Oz and I'm coming over with my fiance on Jan 01. I'll be living in Bracken Ridge, Brisbane, QLD with some of her family at first, however I'm most concerned with finding work. What has been the average time it has taken to find work?

Chris, excited at the prospect!

Hi there, congrat's!
we too live in bracken ridge, my husband found work after about three and a half months but i'm still trying, it wasn't as easy as I was led to believe, i have applied for loads and will keep trying, but you just have to be patient and if possible financially secure for a few months to give you some time to settle and also to apply. for eg. i was interviewed for a role 6 weeks ago and am still awaiting the result, I spoke to the agent yesterday and they will let me know when they decide, it just seems slower here. :) Karen

Hi Karen,

Are you an RN? Just that my wife works for a nursing agency and might be able to point you in the right direction, PM me if you like.

Regards
Richard

I think it depends a lot on what you do for a living. From reading this board a lot :o it seems IT people find it easiest to get work.

Also, when you arrive sign up with a couple of agencies, they can be really helpful in finding that all important first job.

Before you get here, make sure you update your CV and get some good references dated for the end of December ;)
