Default Arrived on Spouse Visa - Non-Resident TFN?

I've been in Sydney for about a month now and just received my Tax File Number (TFN) today. The letter states I am registered as a non-resident for tax obligations. Is this correct? as I'm resident and living in Australia with my Australian partner now.

I arrived in Australia on the following visa:
Sub class 310 Interdependency Visa (Provisional Resident).
Granted 8th Feb.

I should have permenant residency in 2 years.

Any help would be appreciated thanks.

They did the same with me, you need to contact the tax office and tell them that you are now a resident in Australia on a 310 visa, and so require a resident tax number.

Thanks again Pollyana .

I phoned the tax office today and it seems I have to send a letter with my signature to:

PO BOX 9942
Moonee Ponds
Victoria
3039

They will then update my records within 28 days .

Only took about 10 days to get mine back, so don't fret too much
