Arrived!
Arrived on 19th August. Sorted driving licence, Medicare and tax file number.
Blue skies every morning and only 2 days rain since we arrived (Gold Coast). Prices of things similar to UK! Maybe slightly more expensive if you compare the £/$
Just loving the space and lack of people everywhere. UK is bulging at the seams and this is a breath of fresh air in more ways than one.
Have bought annual passes to Seaworld/Wet n Wild/Warner bros/Paradise Country. Unlimited access for a year for £50 for all 4 parks!
Yep, work is on the agenda but not just yet!

After the Gold Coast the rest of the country can hardly compare. Step into Sydney, Melbourne, Adelaide or Perth and you will be kissing the ground like the Pope after you return to the Gold Coast and step off the plane. Nothing else even comes close.
I'm enjoying a few glasses of red on the other side of the world but I'll post some info as to our favourite places on the Gold Coast for everything from coffee to food to good beer. Enjoy the lifestyle - this is truly Australia!

Re: Arrived!
Hi astera,
I love the Gold Coast. I've been coming here for 30 years now. Mum lived here and my bro lives in Brisbane. I wouldn't really choose anywhere else. I know the non touristy parts, off beaten track. The climate has to be the best Aus has on offer too.
Would love to hear your favourite places as I don't know everywhere, I find it hard to move from the places I love in Tweed and Coolangatta but now I'm here for good I've time to try out new places!
Enjoy your glass of red, it's a midi Tooheys new for me!

You don't even realise how lucky you are. You've actually hit the jackpot here.

Re: Arrived!
The GC might be great if you can find appropriate work or your circumstances allow you to work remotely etc. But a major problem with the GC is lack of a range of jobs to suit everyone. Your quality of life might not be so spectacular if you're commuting to Brisbane 5 days a week!

Re: Arrived!
Gold Coast is having truckloads of gov and private cash thrown at it, as is typical for anywhere holding a major 'games' event, yawn..... Might be a few more jobs than there used to be.
As for the weather, yep lovely now, best time, the dodgy bit is summer, humidity and all the rain then.
