ARRIVAL - List of things to do.
We are currently trying to put together a list of tasks that need to be completed when we arrive. e.g. driving licence, medicare.
Any further ideas welcome. :confused: |

Tax File Number (without it you will get hammered for emergency tax if you start work)
Driving Licence Medicare Ambulance Cover (www.hcf.com.au $27 per year) Bank Accounts, ATM/EFTPOS Cards Get in touch with removals this end and give them your contact details/address (stuff can't clear customs unless they have an address for you, even if it's only temporary) Get 'The Age' Newspaper on a Saturday for jobs Head for the city, pull up a chair at a cafe down by the river, sit back with a beer or a coffee and an inane grin knowing you're finally here! :beer: |

The government know you are in Oz from the moment you pass through immigration. Medicare were expecting us when we turned up, they had all our details on their systems.
