Default AQIS inspection and what to expect on the day

We're shipping a 40' container to Melbourne in a couple of weeks. We're self-packing & loading and the cost is excluding AQIS inspection charges.

Does anyone have any direct experience with the AQIS inspection who could explain what to expect on the day? Will we get the opportunity to be there with the inspectors or is it a matter of simply paying up what they tell us to before the shipment is allowed onwards delivery?

AQIS, are booked by the removal company that is handling your goods in Australia .
You will not be allowed to attend the viewing , as most companies dont like people walking around there depots , due to hazards ,Forklifts etc....mm

If they find something that they believe needs treatment or blowing up, they'll contact you to find out what you want to do. Once they've done their bit you'll get a bill which will need paying before they let your stuff go. They are likely to go through yours more than normal because they seem to have an inbuilt fear of self packers.
