French Connection is an unknown quantity at this point
Default Aprrox total cost for visa, shipping, flights etc

Hiya

We are hoping to move to Oz within the next 2 years, got house, business plus business property to sell and with the current climate we are not in too much of a hurry to sell, need as much cash to bring with us!!

So can anyone give us an approximate total cost for visa (with or without agency), shipping (size of container used) and flights, please, thanks.

I guess we won't get much change from around £12-15k. Has anyone managed to do it for less? Would be great to read some responses.

Thanks

Here's a run-down based on our costs (those already incurred and those expected) for a family of 4:

Visa: £1,000 (without agency - double that at least if using an agent)
Medical costs: £800
Police checks: £200 (we need to get checks done for the UK AND USA)
Container: £3,000-£6,000 (depending on 20' or 40' container - shop around!)
Flights: £2,500-£4,000 (depending on airline and time of year)

There are also other costs that you may or may not need to incur. Both myself and my wife took the IELTS test - £100 per person. I also had to get my work experience ratified by the ACS - £200 (if memory serves).

Then there are the costs associated with closing down your life in the UK and opening up a new life in Oz (selling/buying house and other things, drivers licenses, etc., etc., etc. - very difficult to quantify since everyone's situation is very different).

I'd say your initial 'guestimate was a fairly good one.
