Default Applications for more than 1 rental (Queensland)?

Hi

I am new to the rental thing!

We have put in an application for a rental, where we just submitted the paperwork etc, but no money. We are still seeing properties though. If we see another one we really like, are we allowed to submit another application or are we under a legal obligation of some sort with the first application?

Thanks

Rudi

Submit as many as you like.

Some places when lodging an application will ask for or you can offer a holding deposit (this holds the property for one week), if you do this the property cannot be shown to anyone else for that week while your application is being processed, if it’s approved then deposit goes towards your rent/bond, if it’s not approved you get your deposit back, if it’s approved but you don’t take the place then they keep the deposit.

Only do the holding deposit if you really like the place, but otherwise you can apply for as many places as you want, it’s up to you if you take them or not, your not bound to anything until the lease is drawn up, you sign and get the keys.

Good luck in your hunt.
