Retyped? Typed? Not sent back for two spaces to be taken out of the Word
document and re-printed?

There's about 4 books out in the UK with 'eats shoots and leaves' in the
titles, one specifically about punctuation.

But that's correct, 'Windows are shutting down' would be wrong.

I can't remember any grammar from school. To me, if it sounds right, then it must be. I get it right 90pc of the time.

BM

There's no subject in your final sentence.
pc is not an abbreviation of percent
you shouldn't use commas around 'if it sounds right'
your parenthees are inappropriate
I belive single quotations atre prefered to the double ones you used around "agreeing"
I don't think your second sentence has a subject
two of your four sentences are fine, I'll give you 50%.

My own typos aside, I notice Badge got 2 sentences correct out of five - a mere 40% success rate!

I'd settle for "Windows are closing", or " 'MS Windows tm' is shutting down".

'Windows' are plural, remember.... (very plural in fact: Bill Gates has got zillions of 'em installed on PCs all over the world

Anya.

"...it's 'Examples'..." is a good example of apostrophe misuse...

Jayr is correct. 'Windows' is singular in the phrase 'Windows is closing down'. There is no need to add 'MS...'; it is self-evident.

ROFL, MikeStanton. Glad to see that someone's on the ball and picked up my deliberate mistake!
