About 300,000 additional cars on the road, a train to Mandurah and the weather's turned to shit.

Hope this helps ...

Besides the obvious being the massive increase in the cost of living a process perhaps taking off in around 04,there have been quite noticable changes to the composition of the population which as far as i am concerned has only added to the vitality that surely must follow and assist to remove the feeling of total remoteness that one at times feels here.
The CBD area besides becoming more colourful in the social sense is under going something of a construction boom although the latest down turn is likely to see a number of projects put on hold if not scrapped.
And did someone mention the new train line?Even comes with an underground station.

Is the line underground as well or was it a planning cock up?

ok not Perth itself but we came in 05 and when we moved here in 07 we thought Mandurah foreshore had changed for the better. From what I remember it all looked very cheap but now there are some nice coffee shops and it has a nicer feel to it.

Just arrived back last weekend from a 4 week trip to Perth after being away for a year so yes there are some changes.

Railway line to Mandurah now up and running, looking good.

Loads more cars on the road!

Surprisingly didn't see a lot of those remote speeding cameras around either which surprised me and did a lot of travelling around.

New shops up in Ocean Keys Mindarie way.

New shops at Beeliar Road which are lovely

More shops at Carousel, Joondalup and Innaloo (you can tell I did a lot of shopping!)

Only one Lincraft shop now, and thats in Whitfords City!

Some roads in Perth City Centre have been changed so they are two way now! Slightly confusing but it seems to work well!

Thats all I can think of for now. Perth still as lovely nas ever, clean and those high bright blue skies, oh, I have missed them!

Love

Recently come back to London after a year in Perth.
The main changes that occured while I was out there were Scarborough Beach getting a facelift. There is now an 'amphitheatre' that leads you down to the beach from the large roundabout at the end of Scarborough Beach Road. Looks impressive.
Ikea has moved to a new location on Ellen Stirling Blvd in Innaloo and is now WA's largest shop. And plans were announced to build a new stadium opposite Subiaco Oval.

Looks like the new stadium at Subi is on hold now with the election of the new state Conservative Govt.Too early to know what else may go by the way side.....could it be going back to the old WA...meaning Wait Awhile.
Perth still lacks the buzz of a city if it can not get it right now and in the following few years the chance to make this an invigorating and happening city will be lost for decades.
