Default Anyone working in financial services?

Hi all
Just wondering if anyone here works in financial services and has moved out / is planning the move to Oz. My partner, who works in financial services in London, had a chat with an Australian colleague recently who seemed to think he'd have no problems getting a job in Oz.
I just wondered if that's the reality (and if there are any conversion exams, etc). He's FPC qualified, in case that means anything to anyone

Pip pip

Default Financial Services

I also work in UK Financial Services and have been investigating what is required to move to Sydney and continue in this line. Basically your knowledge of the UK market will give you a good springboard (i.e an investment is an investment) but the compliance and tax laws are completely different. Therefore, I have decided that the best option is to treat myself as a beginner - not easy when if like me you have 22 years experience in the industry. In short your FPC as a qualifiaction is worthless in Australia.

Have you identified any recruitment agents that deal in financial services?

Hi there - no, no agencies yet. We are just starting out and are over a year away from any move, but I'm the kind of person that likes to know as much as possible *now* - hence the question!

That's pretty brave of you to accept that you might have to take a 22-year step back.....

I would not say 'worthless'.

Admittedly the info that you (and I learnt) is no longer acurate. But it does show a level of inteligence, ability to sit for qualifications, dedication to staying in the business ect.

The agency i have spoken to knew what FPC was, and were happy with the quality of my CV & qualifications.
(i'm not an advisor though, I'm Senior Admin).

Just my experience so far.............

I was interested in the agency knowing about the FPC qualifications. What agency have you contacted?

Hi all,

Thought I would resurrect this thread seeing as though it is my line of work. I also have FPC, CII quals etc. but not in sales - am I allowed to mention COMPLIANCE??

Have no desire to stay in fin services (yawn!) having been in it all my working life...moving to Oz is to have a change but.......also need an income, so needs must.

Wondered how you good people are now progressing and if you have managed to get anywhere with the job search?

Anyone thinking of working in fin servs in Brisbane or Adelaide?

What are the job prospects like out there?

Let's hear it for financial services (stands back and waits for the abuse)
