anyone used these airlines?
Hello,
I am trying to book our flight to Brisbane on or around the 3rd August. Just spent the last few hours comparing prices and the cheapest I have found is £2200 for a family of 4 (2 adults, 1 teenager and 1 child). This is a very good price but.... it's with either Korean airlines or Thai airlines. Has anyone any experience with these.
We are going one way only and had started out looking at the obvious names but these are all coming in around £700 more.
Any opinions on these two airlines would be much appreciated.
Thanks Gill

Thai's plane currently on the LHR to Thailand route is still an old 744 with no seat back TVs. The plane into Brisbane from there is good.
Korea Air has a good personal TV equiped plane from London, but onward to Brisbane is usually a rather grim plane as its a regional flight.
Both have good service, but I've flown Korean only once and Thai 4 times. There probably about the same really. If I had an absolute choice I'd prefer to use Singapore, which may sound like a broken record but consistent service and the most modern planes (relative comfort) from London to Brisbane atm.

Gill,
Use the German section of the IOM (i think thats what they are called?) as identified in your Visa letter. We used them and they were the cheapest (we flew Qantas with them).

I still recommend them, very good service. I enjoy flying with them. Pack a mini DVD player and you're sorted.
Good service.

Had alook at this site, and yes it does seem from the reviews that there is very little on board entertainment, although everyone rates the food i think travelling with children would be a nightmare without the tv's. So i think i will go back to researching with the larger airlines and if paying an extra £600 means happy children then that is what we will have to do.
Thanks for the replys though.

Re: anyone used these airlines?
We flew with KoreanAir last Nov and like someone has already said, no tv's on the second leg but what concerned me more was the ashtrays in the seat arms , also on the way out from Korea to UK they ran out of English food, only had the noodle/soup thing which I had on the first flight and didnt like so I knew that my kids wouldnt like it, so we all had nothing for the first meal!!
The service from the staff was excellent though and they were very apologetic about the food situation but.....
Personally I wouldnt choose to fly with them again.

Singapore Airlines on flights between the UK and Australia are using the very latest planes - the A380, A330-300 and the B777-300ER (looks like they've dropped the B747-400) - with the best economy class setup available.

They've dropped it between UK and Singapore but it still flies between Singapore and Melbourne & Sydney (in addition to 777s and A380s).

Qantas was still getting new B747s until only a few years ago.

you can also try www.seatguru.com - this will tell you all about the onboard facilities plus the all important leg room details, it also highlights good seats and seats to avoid for when you go through online seat booking...i think Thai airways is pretty good from what i saw on this website
