Anyone recommend a good accountant for UK & Oz tax?

Hi

we are looking to emigrate next year but will be renting out our home in the UK until we decide that Oz is the right place for us.

Therefore we will need a good accountant to sort out both our UK and Oz tax affairs, so if anyone uses or could recommend anyone that would be great.

thanks in advance,

Blue Toffee

I spoke to Alan Collett yesterday- he seems pretty fair. He is a Pom tax accountant who now lives in Geelong (Oz), and think he has office in Southampton (UK)

his website is something like alancollett.com.au.

thanks for this, i have contacted him already. Have you actually used him?

As he has sent me a lot of info but wants to prepare a report on areas of my finance for £500+ which I feel is a little steep as it wwouldn'tbe taken off any actual work he does for us.

I'd be interested to see if you used this sserviceand if you found it good value or not?

thanks

If it's simply a tax return you want then 500 pounds does sound steep, but it's hard to make a judgement without knowing how complex your situation is and whether you would benefit from some other tax advice. There are a number of firms that will do tax reporting for Australian expatriates, which probably suits your circumstances - at least worth asking whether they will prepare both Australian and UK returns and how much it would cost. See www.exfin.com and www.smats.net.

Cheers
