I have been looking on google images too. I don't think it is one of those as they are quite long and thin. This thing was a few inches wide but no more than 2 foot long. The images of blue-tongues look very similar to what I saw but it can't have been alarmed enough to stick its tongue out at me!

Not sure about WA, but animals are protected here in Victoria

Protected my a**e, If it slithers or has 8 legs hit it with a shovel I think that covers all the nasty lthings down there. Whats Oz like for importing animals we have been thinking of getting a mongoose for the kids instead of a dog, it wont fetch a stick but it will kill any fekking snake.
