Anyone packed stuff in their chests of drawers when shipping?
We have had a few shipping people around recently to give quotes. Pickfords and PSS said we could pack some stuff in the drawers of our chests of drawers, but John Masons said we could not. PSS said we could put all our shoes in our laundry basket for instance, Masons again said not. What have others done? If you did, did you do them in vacuum packed bags, and did stuff go mouldy, as Masons warned it would?
Any advice/experiences appreciated!

We used Crown (years ago) and they also suggested we pack things inside the washing machine, 'use any space you can' they told us.

we packed a whole bureau complete with all the stuff inside it - paperwork etc - we had no problems with it - also a 5drawer chest of drawers with all my sons "spare" clothes in it - again it was fine

And thanks also Pootle, wow, which shipping company was that with? Makes unpacking much easier at the other end, doesn't it.

We put some things inside but I would be careful inside the washing machine as that is damp to start with so will be very likely to come out covered with mould. The one thing that we did pack in the kid's drawers was the back door key courtesy of our 7 year old . We were in a rental in Belgium and had no spare key so had to change the lock before we moved, give him his due he knew exactly where he had put it and it was there when we got to the other end .

Hi Nicky,
yes you are right you have to be careful when putting things inside the washing machine, we put our duvet in ours but obviously we sealed it first so that no damp could get into it. We had no problems, and Crown said that they did it all the time and no one had ever come back to them and complained.
