Ooh, all excited..we too are moving to the Coffs area, as soon as we sell the damned house! Hoping Sept/Oct. We will initially be living in Sawtell at sisters place, but will settle near/in Sawtell anyway. We have 2 under 3 year olds. Pm me if you fancy a chat, and info exchange!

okay, look at the top peach coloured bar of this page.click on "shortcuts". this will bring up a list. Under "miscellaneous" it has "private messages". click on it.This will take you to the "pm" or private message page.On the left hand menu is the option for "new message".click it and write on. I will send you one anyway, and if you can open it I think you can just press reply or similar like email....If this doesnt work we will just come back here and chat!

Hi there, we arrived in Sydney on the 27th June and have driven up the coast to Brisbane. We spent some time in Sawtel and i must say we fell in love with the place, shame we need to be nearer Brisbane for work.

There's definately one family that moved out there, cant remember who tho. (was it the frasers ??)

Dont wanna put downer on it but...we were originally going to go there as my relos live in there. Although we might have to reconsider cos unfortunely there aint much work there. Lovely beaches etc, property not ridiculously priced, in fact everything i would want...but as i said not much work...I mean even if u could remove the issue of a mortgage and thought "i know, I'll work at coles" my cousin went through a right nightmare process just to stack shelves.

I might be wrong, and hopefully someone might correct me cos i love it there.

Yeah that is the main worry..we are foolishly going there because my sister is there and its lovely. No job to go to though.I can do anything but it's not ideal is it being a 37 year old chambermaid ? Anyone need any solicitors or police in Sawtell ?!

Luckily am going via ens scheme so have a job lined up, im a mental health nurse.
Hubbys a window fitter so not holding out much hope for him finding work - guessing this based on replies to another thread. Think he will end up working in a bar or summat. It would be good if he could do something of an evening so dont require any childminders - no family to help out an all that.
It does sound like a lovely place although i've been told some areas do flood - does anyone know which areas these are.

Hi there, Have just joined this site today although been in Aus nearly 5 years! living in Vic at the mo but we are planning to move to Coffs later in the yaer. Have been there many times, in fact got married there, was told by someone who has been there 10 years "move here, it is paradise" my wife's family are there so we have social support but you are right jobs are hard to come by, but that just might have to be a sacrifice to live in such a great area. Lots of people "buy" a job apparently, ie buy a franchise or set up self employed, but if you are in any sort of building/construction you shouldnt have any probs

Hiya,

We have just booked flights for 5th september. Trying to sort out a rental property now before we arrive.
It does look lovely on the pictures. Cant wai to get there. Have got until 18th before starting work.
