Anyone moving to Adelaide??

Hi me and my family hope to move to Adelaide next year and even though we have met some nice people on here (hi tony & myrtle) I was hoping to make some friends. Anyone else going there? My husband is a Chef and we have two little girls. Preparing the TRA at the moment. It's all so exciting:thumbsup:

Re: Anyone moving to Adelaide??

Not sure where we will go yet. We have a friend that lives in North Adelaide in Exeter near Semaphore and he says its lovely up there. But further south, property seems to be much cheaper. Will know where feels right when we get there. What age are your girls? Mine are 2 and 6 so they don't really understand the move. My six year old just insists that she is too afraid of spiders to live in OZ:whatchutalkingabout Have you been to Adelaide before?

No havent been to Adelaide before, just Sydney and Brisbane which were nice, but think climate etc is better for us in Adelaide. I have a friend in the South in Aldinga and she loves it there. Dont think we will go that far down, probably Flagstaff area. My little darlings are 6 and 4 and not really said anything to them cos too little, just that we may live near the beach which of course went down well!
Have you been to Adelaide before? Why you going? Just fancy a change?
Susan:)

Hi both,

We are hoping to go to Adelaide too. Currently waiting for my IELTS test results and for SA to reopen their sponsorship applications. Hope to be there by June next year. We have a 7 year old.

We went out on a visit last April and liked Adelaide very much. Semaphore was lovely - if expensive. We also liked Brighton, Seacliff areas and Athlestone - all very different places. So there is something for everyone.

we are going on oh's skills as an electrician/fitter - and we think because of his skills we might end up in the north somewhere ...
difficult, isn't it?!?!

we have 2 little ones of 3 yrs and 2 yrs
i've sort of mentioned it a few times to my 3 yr old and he keeps asking me now when we will go 'to the new house'

Well I haven't been to Adelaide or even Australia before and its just because I think it will be a better life for us and our children:) All bound for Adelaide should check out www.adelaidebound.com it is really informative about all the aspects of moving to adelaide and if anything the pictures of the beautiful beaches will give you butterflies!!!!

Re: Anyone moving to Adelaide??

Well my hubbie and I are going over on a student visa, with the dog. The house sale seems to be going well, so it looks like we may be there in December. Yay.
We have been to Adelaide 8 years ago. We worked there for a couple of months and it was my favourite place in Oz. Reminded me of home but warmer, with the beach, and nice people, and lemon trees (little things I know) and calamari in the chip shops (I know, that is the same Oz over).

Ohhh I'm so excited. Now we just have to sell all of our posesions. A little worrying, but hey, you only live once.

Re: Anyone moving to Adelaide??

it sure is very daunting

we are trying to get a timeline together to when we actually can go.
but everything depends on so many other things :confused:

when to sell house?
when to hand in notice?
when to order shipping?
when book flights?
book accomodation in oz?

as you all do yourselves probably :p i am alot on the real estate sites of adelaide. i do like the looks of golden grove and there abouts ...
but we thought for the beginning we might rent somewhere closer to the beach but north of the airport...
but then again this plan changes by the minute ;)

oh, and we haven't been either! to oz that is
