Default anyone living on the sunshine Coast???

If you are, can you let me know the good and the bad area's (if any). We have got two children aged 9 and 2 and would like to move to an area with lots of young families and with good schools, we quite like the sound of Maloolaba, any info would be great. xxx

Hi,
We've just got back from our reccie trip, went to the sunshine coast for 3 weeks, based ourselves in Caloundra near a group of good mates and they're families.Would recommend Caloundra or anywhere along that coast. It really is something else along that coast! Of course alot depends on what job/trade you may be but We're sold on it and can't wait to get out there for good!
See your in Bristol??? And us!!Lovely day here today wasn't it!

Did you see any schools while you were there? Also what do you think job wise for chefs?

Any comments would be a great help.

We've been to Mooloolaba a few times and we absolutely loved it! Don't know anything about living there, but it's a really nice place. We also loved Eumundi, which is quite close to it, but more inland.

Hi we live in Mountian Creek and love it. We are about 5 mins (in the car) away from Mooloolaba Beach and within 10 mins away from about 3 other beaches. The only problem here is the work. Not sure what you do but have a good look into it before you move. Good Luck anyway.

http://jobsearch.gov.au/SearchResult...ure=&NumMJL=0&

from www.jobsearch.gov.au, also try careerone.com.au, seek.com.au, sunshinecoastdaily.com.au - 'worksearch'; and finally http://www.hospitalitypersonnel.com.au/

and for schools in Caloundra which is where we live:

hi emmalina

we live in caloundra and as the other posters have stated is a great family place with several beaches, good size town with plenty of activities, loads of suburbs to explore, iideally yiou wanna visit first and decide for yourselves. then you can go 20 mins to buderim (i drive slow) and 25-30 mins to mooloolaba, alex headland and maroochydore; or if more adventurous noosa is about 40 mins drive. these areas are dont have that many schools, - mooloolaba only has the state school, the other schools are in the surrounding area:

http://www.buderimvillage.com.au/html/education.html

we've been here for a year and our 5 year old is currently at caloundra city but that may change - the school is brilliant but we have another one due to go there in the future and it could get very expensive (around $1200 a term i think). the other schools seem to do a good job, and if you search for threads you might find some more on caloundra schools, till then try this:

http://www.caloundra.qld.gov.au/Comm..._directory.htm

hope this helps for now, any more detailed info you want let us know,

J

Mooloolabas more the tourist strip, not that much accom that is not holiday let. 1 klm up the road is alexandra headland, better facilites, great patrolled and surf beach, less tourists and much cheaper to rent and buy in than mooloolaba.

Hi we have lived out here for almost a year now.I can honestly say there are no real bad areas on the Sunshine Coast. All the way from Noosa down to Caloundra it is really nice.Mooloolaba is great but maybe not to live as it is a busy tourist area.We live in Mudjimba , it's about 10 mins drive north of Mooloolaba and we love it.It all depends on what type of work you are doing. You are limited as there are not too many jobs around on the coast and alot of people travel to Brisbane everyday.Hope this helps.

Georgina,
We only went on went friends told us about the schools that they're Kids go to,don't know anything about chefs, try the leads on here, they should help.
Sorry can't be more help but i'm an engineer but I'd think that chefs wouldn't have problems finding work as there are lots of places to eat so you'd think there'd be jobs ????
