Anyone know when peak and off peak periods are for flying Perth-London please?
Hi all,
I was trying to look to see when peak and off peak periods are for a visit home. We have 2 children under compulsory school age. Hubby works outdoors so last winter was pants in terms of earning (as he got rained off so many times) and I am now also working outdoors so best time would be Oz Winter / UK Summer but I would also love to go back at the beginning of December through to January but flights seem expensive but I don't know the best dates to fly to avoid the really big increase around Xmas.
Any help would be appreciate.
Has anyone flown last minute and got some good deals??
Thanks in advance

As a general rule you will need to fly before 10 Dec and probably avoid the first week or two of January....were you hoping to stay that long?

You wont find anything cheaper closer to the time. Any discounted fares will have been snapped up way before that. As a general rule with long haul air travel you won't find prices going down closer toward the flight date. Especially true around the silly season.

I know with Emirates coming Uk to Perth the cut off date seems to be 30th June. The price goes up on 1st July. Not sure with it going the other way round.

as a general rule of thumb these are the seasons
LOW: 01OCT-03DEC / 17JAN-31MAR
SHLDR: 01APR-31MAY / 16AUG-30SEP / 25DEC-16JAN
HIGH: 01JUN-15AUG / 04DEC-24DEC
you might get a slight variation between airlines, sometimes at the beginning of the year the airlines might have some specials for travel in feb/march but as other posters have said you wont get any specials close to December, you are best off booking for December in the previous Oct/Nov when the earlybird specials come out, yes you have to comit and pay almost a year in advance but there are a few hundred $$ per ticket saving

This generally isnt possible......reservations can only be made typically 350 days max before travel. If you try booking now for Apr 09 you wont have much luck!

yes well thats true! generally tho the earlybirds need paying for by mid december so you can usually hold your outbound seat so long as its very early december and then change your inbound seat once the dates are in the system
