Default Anyone here work as a contractor?

No, not a contracter...

We've been offered a chance to do this, and wondered about the pros and cons e.g. insurance, worker's comp, doing your own tax and super etc.

The pay rise is about 30% but I'm a firm believer in "no such thing as a free lunch".

Any thoughts?

Heaps better money.

Get to work the hours i want.

Have time off when i want(not at moment tho--too busy)

Be my own boss.

Dont have to listen to someone else giving orders.

More time at home with family.

Dont have to worry about holiday dates etc.

Brilliant working enviroment.

>..And why not, if it fails at least you can say you gave it a go.

Deb & I have worked as contractors since we arrived, hard work, lot's of extra hours invoicing & preparing BAS statements. Wouldn't have it any other way. I'm my own boss [it's my name on the licence] until 5pm when Deb seems to become the boss
Time off whenever we want, work the hours we want, pick & choose who we work for & fish whenever the fish aren't biting
