One shipping company has mentioned a NES security fee charged by HM Customs & Revenue of £45 on containers being exported. I was told it was a recent change (ie in the last month)

I have not heard about it before, or seen it mentioned on Expats, or can find details on HMCR site about it.

So has anyone heard about this fee?

NES = New Export System and commenced in autumn of 2002. It is an electronic declaration to Customs of all exports leaving the UK. Shipping lines and forwarders normally charge between £20 and £30 for it.
